Tazarak, the Propagation

Tazarak

"Apostate, apostate
You burn so bright,
With destruction sown by your wrathful might.
Apostate, apostate
I gave you life,
Yet you tear my heart with your blinded strife.
Apostate, apostate
I'll come to hate
That who turns away their fate.
Apostate, apostate
No death is nigh
For the Swarm whose life you can't deny.
Apostate, apostate
Undeserving to weep
You who destroyed what was mine to reap.
Apostate, apostate
I'll serve you right
My swarm will remain your endless blight."

-Tazarak, speaking to Cross after the destruction of planet Cygni-A

Birth. Death. Reproduction. Two becomes a million in only twenty iterations. A trillion, in twenty more. Tazarak, the Propagation, is the endless cycle, the biological meaning of life: to survive long enough to reproduce. They bear so-called horrors of self-replication and reproduction, bringing their endless Swarm across the galaxy to replicate themselves upon worlds. They are the primal inclination of all organic species in the universe, and their current is followed by non-intelligent life just as much as their intelligent counterparts. They believe their replication is a gift upon life-starved worlds, however, their current has caused the destruction of many colonies, particularly at the end of the Age of Rebirth.

Tazarak's Imprisonment

At the end of the Synthesis War, Tazarak was imprisoned thanks to the combined effort of Turing, the Preservation, Cross, the Bounty, Xivei, the Ataraxia, Volivala, the Journey, Trala, The Hedonia, and Cycke, the Consumption. Tazarak is currently imprisoned in a moon-sized obelisk about 4.76 parsecs from the Apperatum homeworld of 22-Eridani. Within, they are unable to directly enact their powers upon the mortal world such as through creating harbingers. However, the Swarm is still able to populate unguided, and Tazarak still bears the ability to bless lancers.

Tazarak & Mortals

Since the moment of their ascension, Tazarak has blessed an extremely large amount of mortals. However, most of this was done unconventionally, with them directly blessing non-intelligent lifeforms with the gift of self-replication.

Tazarak has blessed a large amount of lancers in recent times, with mortals becoming their only outlet for enacting their will upon reality. Lancers blessed by Tazarak typically are obsessed with self-replicating mechanisms and machines--often to the shunning of their colleagues.

Tazarak is currently unable to create harbingers, though many still remain in existence among the Swarm.

Follower Factions

The Swarm is the ceaseless spawn of Tazarak. They emerge from Tazarak's blessing upon mundane lifeforms, small at first, but rapidly growing in size through the power of self-replication. With each generation, the population mutates, becoming more and more grotesque as time goes on. Eventually, after the Swarm has taken over a planet, they evolve to the point of being space-faring on their own. They then take to the stars and terrorize the local interstellar community, or they arrive at a new, unclaimed world and turn it into another breeding ground for the Swarm. For centuries, the Swarm has ceaselessly terrorized the cosmos, even after Tazarak's imprisonment.

The Apperatum Embryonica is a former subset of the Swarm containing the Bio-Apperatums created via the Synthesis Equation. Unlike purely biological denizens of the Swarm, the Apperatum Embryonica ceaselessly consumed the manufactured creations of humanity, utilizing the devoured materials to create new Apperatums to fuse with biological lifeforms. Unlike the Swarm proper, the Apperatum Embryonica is considered to be completely eradicated following the end of the Synthesis War. However, some are rumored to have survived, awaiting in the shadows formed by humanity.

Some followers of the Propagation are rumored to work within the ranks of HORUS, taking lessons from the self-replication utilized by the Swarm. Due to the terrors of the Apperatum Embryonica, this has generally been shunned. However, there are still those who continue doing research, despite the potential risks.
